From Tragedy to Prevention

Some announcements go beyond business, and today is one of them: “From Tragedy to Prevention,” please help me welcome Hannah Carbocci.

Hannah Carbocci is a survivor of one of the worst mass murders in high school history. Out of that unimaginable tragedy, she chose not just to endure but to rise. Hannah reached out directly to me, asking how she could volunteer with the Active Shooter Prevention Project. That simple act of courage has now grown into something much greater: she joins us as an Executive Intern.

Armed with a master’s degree in Homeland Security Studies, Hannah is focused on serving this nation as an intelligence analyst and advancing domestic terrorism prevention. She represents the very future of our country, proof that resilience can turn pain into purpose.

There are moments when the only right response is “yes.” When survivors come forward not asking for sympathy, but for responsibility, the path becomes clear: allow them to lead, to teach, and to help ensure others never endure what they have.

As I often remind myself: Doing the right thing for survivors is not about what we gain, it’s about honoring what they’ve given and sometimes, lost, and empowering them to carry their lessons forward to protect others.

Hannah, we are humbled and honored to welcome you into the ASPP family. The road to Destination #NEVERHERE is brighter because you are walking it with us.

Be on the lookout for Hannah to be the next guest on the Destination #NEVERHERE podcast, setting the national standard for prevention, one change at a time.
