Building Safer Communities Together

I read a poignant post this afternoon by “Threat Suppression Incorporated,” a company dedicated to developing and executing large-scale active shooter training exercises.  The idea is to build safer communities together. The post referenced the attack on the Church of Latter-Day Saints in Michigan, and how the attack highlighted the critical need to plan and prepare for non-standard attacks.  In closing, they state, “These real-world events underscore the importance of comprehensive, multi-hazard training for first responders”.

Active shooter incidents can become complex, and when they do, they are a community effort.  Training first responders is only one phase within a multiphase preparedness cycle in this joint community effort.  Development of effective training in preventative posture, response, and recovery requires:

  • Task organizing multi-institutional organizations into a joint operation
  • Developing tasks that must be mastered to support the joint operation
  • Developing training management to successfully engage partners from a proficiency, affordability, and time management perspective

At ASPP, our work extends beyond training first responders; we bring together schools, faith-based institutions, businesses, and local governments to create a comprehensive ecosystem of safety and security. By uniting prevention strategies with response protocols and recovery planning, we equip communities with the tools to recognize warning signs, mitigate risks, and enhance resilience before tragedy strikes. “Building Safer Communities Together” is not just a phrase; it is the foundation of our mission to ensure safety is shared, prevention is prioritized, and protection becomes a community-wide standard.

The Active Shooter Prevention Project (ASPP) and its nonprofit arm, ASHER 360, are dedicated to the principles of Prevention, Response, and Recovery and are focused on bringing a holistic solution to realize “NEVER HERE”
