Why Indoor Mapping Matters
We know seconds save lives, and indoor mapping has moved from a niche “good to have” option to an essential need. It’s the bridge between Prevention and Response, directly aligned with the PRO Model: Prevention. Response. Options. “A” National Standard created by Chris Grollnek, the Chairman of the Board of the Active Shooter Prevention Project, who wrote the standard for an all-hazards approach.
The bottom line is that first responders can’t get to where they want to go without searching and assessing unless they can see where they want to go. Without accurate 360 / 3D indoor maps, they’re navigating blind. The correct indoor mapping helps them enter and navigate or be told where to navigate from a dispatcher’s view of the location to provide direction and the ability to act fast and smart.
This isn’t just about active shooter prevention; it’s about all hazards: medical emergencies, fires, evacuations, natural disasters, and more. Every second counts, and we’re helping communities hedge their resources to protect more people with smarter and affordable technology.
Indoor mapping gives decision-makers and first responders real-time situational awareness, improves training, enhances communication, and ultimately gives us what we all seek, especially parents: peace of mind.
This is more than technology. It’s a tool of preparedness, a foundation of proactive safety, and the connective tissue that unites strategy with action.
At the Active Shooter Prevention Project (ASPP), we’re not waiting for the next crisis but building the infrastructure to prevent it.
